In my kindergarten classroom, the children come to school at such various levels that meeting all their needs can seem impossible. Some of the children come to school in the process of identifying letters and sounds while others come to kindergarten reading chapter books. Some of the children have perfect handwriting while others are beginning to print their names. Some of my children are beginning to learn about numbers beyond 10 while others are fluent in addition and subtraction. Some have been deemed Gifted, some are English language learners, and some are both. My children are as various academically as they are socially. I am fortunate to serve a school where the children come from many different backgrounds, cultures, and socioeconomic groups. I like to think of my school and classroom as a mini example of how the world not only looks, but also should be.
