Sculpture can take on many forms. I try to expose my students to as many forms as possible in my classroom. We create cardboard sculptures, found object assemblages, paper mache with recycled newspaper, just to name a few. However, there are many forms of sculpture that I can't give my students the opportunity to experience without proper materials. "Sculpture occupies the same space as your body" - Anish Kapoor. Art is everywhere. This is the main idea I try to teach my students. It is everywhere, and it can be made from anything. The majority of my students come from families of farmers. The idea of making movies is not something they are exposed to but is something that could be useful to their families. Students could use the skills they acquire to create advertisements for their farms as well as simply creating short movies for fun. With the materials I have requested, I can teach my students to create examples of the world around them, in a three dimensional form, not just drawn flat on paper. With the Model Magic, I will be able to let me younger students experience molding and carving 3D shapes. With my other students I can use the Amaco air dry clay to execute the same lessons. The various Polymer clay packs will allow me to work with my students of all ages to create and sculpt characters that we can use to work together and create stop motion animation clips. That is a concept that I don't believe they have any idea exists. With the help of your donations, these unheard of ideas can become a reality for the students in my classes.
