My students are amazing: they may be some of the most poor students in one of the most difficult districts in which to attend school, but they never cease to dazzle with their fascination of education as a tool for success. The over 100 students I teach have one thing in common: they love to learn about the world; whether they're girls or boys, 5th or 6th graders, they all have an inherent desire to be recognized as unique, creative, and smart individuals. I instill this confidence into them everyday in my science class. But even more than what I can tell them is what I can teach them. They need desperate help improving their reading skills in order to prepare them for their state tests this May, and science is no exception. Without proper reading skills, they will all but struggle coping with the rigorous questions. With your help, we can fix this problem.
