With your support my students will become the reading leaders of the 21st century. They are "little readers becoming leaders". Second grade is a crucial year in developing readers. This is the year students realize the importance of independent reading. I remember as a child in second grade, this was the grade year I fell in love with reading for pleasure. Being successful readers means falling in love with books. My students are fun loving, energetic learners of various reading abilities. Always wanting to read to each other and share with me the humor in the story they are currently reading. Reading successfully gives a child power, self-esteem, and leadership skills. Your support will help me create readers who are leaders.
