Working together as a team supports the building of character. My project will allow students the opportunity of making choices, weighing other's opinions, advocating for their ideas, expressing creatively, executing coordination, being part of a cooperative community, and a chance at developing their listening skills. German composer and advocate for creating music for children, Carl Orff, stated that "Elemental music is never just music. It is bound up with movement, dance and speech and so it is a form of music in which one must participate, in which one is involved not as a listener, but as a co-performer." My project is to get quality instruments into the hands of my students so they can create melodies and rhythms on movable barred instruments. They would combine their various patterns to create an "instrumentarium" of harmony to accompany their voices in song.
