As the school counselor at Mabel School I serve all students in grades K-8. Mabel is located in the NC Mountains. We are a rural school with a high poverty rate, over 60% on free and reduced lunch. A unique aspect of Mabel is our College and Career Readiness Committee that consist of representatives from the local university, community college, and the College Foundation of NC. Many of our students don't have the opportunity to go beyond their Mabel community and have transformational experiences. Through a variety of field trips and guest speakers we work hard to bring the world to the as much as possible. Mabel school has made the promise to prepare our students for post secondary options and the ever changing world.
