My students love challenges, they see every form of exercise as a reward not a punishment!! I highly recommend not making students run for punishment! Physical Education Teachers promote running as a good form of exercising the heart! I motivate them to enjoy staying healthy and challenging their level of fitness. My 3rd-5th graders know how to calculate their maximum heart rate and my k-2nd graders know how to find their pulse after exercising. Knowing your maximum heart rate is a great tool for everyone.
