At Douglas Elementary School, room 220 is the place for exploring, creating, connecting and learning. I teach visual art classes to all students in addition to the Gifted and Talented classes at our rural community school. Literacy is at the core of everything I teach. Although each student is unique; all of my students have the ability, the tenacity and the desire to learn. We are a Title I school located in a low socioeconomic rural community. We have a high population of English Language Learners and students with special needs. Two of my highest priorities, as a teacher, are having the resources to meet the students' diverse educational needs and helping each student to create a foundation of learning that they can build their future upon.
