The middle school schedule is always a shock to the upcoming 7th graders; having 40 minute blocks can not only be intimidating but hindering on a student's ability to organize and prioritize their routines. By having updated organizational tools listed in this project, such as mailboxes to store student folders and baskets for games and assignments, my students will be able to walk in the room and know where their materials are, what is expected of them, and how to problem solve. Organization to many is a skill not naturally learned. Studies have shown that students benefit from visual reminders. Why not make those reminders colorful? I feel that these materials will act as a win-win situation in that it will modernize my classroom environment, promote student independence, and allow students to come into the classroom with a calm and relaxed feeling. With your donation, this can be possible.
