Most of my students struggle to focus on the task at hand. Their bodies need to move and their minds are busy processing all types of information around them. The sensory tools included in my project, including an interactive whiteboard table, wiggle pads, and fidget balls, help children stay busy with their hands and bodies, yet calm and focused on instruction. These sensory tools will help those students who need a little help focusing on new vocabulary words, basic concepts, or articulation skills, especially during whole group time. With improved focus, my students will have more meaningful group time, reduced out of seat behaviors, and will improve concentration. I believe this project will have a dramatic impact on each of my therapy groups. All of the 60+ children on my caseload will benefit from these materials.
