Our classroom is the K-3rd grade Severe/Profound Intellectually Disabled class at our high poverty elementary school just south of Atlanta, GA. These students have physical disabilities that make each day a challenge. From life's basic skills to participating in school activities with their peers, our students push through and face these challenges with determination. We have worked hard at breaking the stereo type of "special needs" students who are kept in their own classrooms by including them in as many "regular education" activities as possible. The students and teachers around the school have embraced this idea. We have even had students ask when our students will be in their class. With adaptations and assistance, each day becomes an adventure of fun and learning that transcends the walls of these classrooms and their own disabilities.
