Our classroom so badly needs quality art books showcasing artists of color! I want my students to have the pleasure of exploring books that about artists that look like them and share their experiences! Students will use these references as inspiration to create artworks that showcase their voice, identity, and story. About 40% of my students are English Language Learners from Central & South America. Some of our books will showcase the experiences of youth who have immigrated to the U.S.A from another country. I hope these stories will create empathy and connection between my students born and raised in Baltimore and my Latinx students.
