Amy Braskin and Heather once said,"No matter what our child's level of ability, he will do best in the future if you help develop practical skills now". A "life skill " is a skill that is very important to survive every day. As a teacher of children with Autism and Intellectual disability, my mission is to teach those "skills." I know that every single day is a challenge for my students to learn and practice these skills however, these are vital skills needed to be applied on a daily basis to help them get through life. They need practice and practice means progress. By supporting this project, it is a great opportunity for my "baristas" (students) to show teamwork, learn money skills, practice number recognition, reading comprehension, health and hygiene, getting orders, sharing, job functioning, budgeting, appropriate social skills, and to become responsible. Aside from applying practical life skills, the baristas (students) will learn how to sell and roll over the amount they have earned in order for them to maintain and be able to continue their "SPEMA Coffee Cart Shop". Some of the extra funds will be used to purchase supplies they need in our class. I firmly believe this project will help my students to learn how to function and develop their entrepreneurship skills and help them to prepare in their future careers in life.
