All of my students use Chromebooks at an independent station during math and reading. Our class has many abilities and needs, which makes it great to have individualized instruction. We use computers to help make learning fun and personal to each students' needs. With a classroom of 26 first graders it gets very loud with no headphones. Headphones would allow each student to hear the prompt and to best answer the question. They love to use Prodigy, Smarty Ants, and Teach your Monster how to Read! These apps all help to improve students learning in both math and reading that is at their own pace!
