The intention of this project is to give students hands on learning opportunities. Students will be able to dissect a sheep brain and do a mock heart surgery on a sheep heart. These projects will be a part of our unit on communication in the body and how power is used and generated in the body respectively. These dissections will be used as assessments and learning experiences to give students practical application of how these systems are put together and operate. This project will bring the memorization of anatomical systems and their physiology to life through practical dissections and surgical techniques. Students will complete both dissections, but will also learn suturing techniques that will aide them in moving into premed tracks in college. These techniques will also help them in some of the volunteer opportunities they are taking on at local hospitals and veterinary clinics.
