Many students, and adults, find it difficult to seat for a long period of time. Students are no different; however, as we teach we constantly remind them to be seated while learning. Research show that students have a maximum of about 10 minutes actual learning. After this time students need to move to recirculate the blood flow in their bodies. I have witnessed these Wobble Chairs in classrooms, and have heard the testimonials from experienced teachers that say these simple looking chairs have increased the students ability to learn. It is also been suggested that these chairs help young students with learning disabilities increase blood flow which increases learning. My goal for the year is to completely remove all plastic chairs in my classroom, and replace them with either exercise balls or Wobble chairs. Many studies have shown that active sitting increases blood flow to the students minds; therefore, increasing the amount of information taken in. I have already purchased, on my own, several balls for the class. I have also seen a tremendous difference in the way my students learn, concentrate, and focus while sitting in class. These chairs will change the way all my students learn in class, and will also change the way they look at any other class.
