My students are a diverse, eager to learn group from an urban, low-income population in downtown Indianapolis. They are in your face independent with hopes and dreams as unique as they are themselves! More than half of my students receive free or reduced lunches and roughly 50% of my students receive SPED services or ESL services. My students are in grades 6-8 and the ages range from 11 to 14! They are changing physically and emotionally during these pre-teen years and I strive to provide a safe and comfortable space for them to grow and learn. In my social studies classroom we strive to develop a community of respectful, life long learners, who use inquiry, critical thinking, and problem solving skills, to be socially responsible contributors to a changing global society.
