My classroom is made up of 9 beautiful preschool students from 3-5 years old with moderate to severe autism who live in a low income area. My students arrive at school each day to follow a daily schedule that includes interventions and therapies from speech therapists, ABA therapists, occupational therapists and teachers. The kids come to school with big smiles on their faces, ready to take on the day. Early intervention is a crucial component in the development of these little guys. We work to treat the whole child and look at all of their areas of needs. We teach them independence and life skills as well as social skills and pre-academics. We foster both gross and fine motor skill building, working on both their large and small muscles. A major goal of preschool is to prepare the child with Autism to be available to learn as they go through life and school.
