As a dual immersion teacher, I pride myself on empowering all of my students to achieve mastery of the California State Standards in both English and Spanish, particularly those related to literacy. We are making great strides in helping our Dual Immersion students meet or exceed those standards, and we are very proud of our students’ efforts. The ultimate goal of the Dual Immersion Program is to help children become bilingual and bi-literate. By second grade, most of these extraordinary children have learned how to read, write speak and listen in two languages! It’s a true pleasure to teach such extraordinary children! Their creativity and intelligence inspire me every day! Literacy skills in both English and Spanish will undoubtedly help my students to be successful in their adult life, to acquire a fulfilling career, and to better understand and contribute to their world.
