My school is a special place. Although we are a Title I school, our greatest asset is the diversity and camaraderie within our tight-knit community. Many of our students are 2nd or even 3rd generation attendees of our school district, while still others are immigrants themselves, new to our city. What we may lack in available funding, we try to make up for with our community and tenacity, so that even the most struggling among us has an equitable chance at success. As a graduate of this district myself, I'm thrilled to be able to teach in the very community I grew up in. I know I have the best job in the world. I'm thankful for Donors Choose, because at this point in my career, my entire budget and then some still goes to providing just the basics for my kids. Posting allows me the chance to have resources for my students that I truly couldn't have otherwise.
