I teach students with Emotional Disturbance in a self-contained class. Because of their unique needs, we often find ourselves behind on the pacing calendars. The pay-off for me is seeing the improvements in behavior and academic success over the course of one school year. I believe that these students need to feel safe and loved before they can focus on learning. Their success lies in our ability to provide a learning environment that is their "happy place" where their efforts are celebrated.
