I have the honor of entering my seventh year with a brilliant community of learners: tinkerers, mathematicians, STEMinists, chefs, gardeners, designers, debaters, and change makers. Their curiosity and critical questions push me every day for the whys of our work together in middle school. My classroom has housed a tower garden, class rats, a painting studio, innumerable glue guns, makeshift whiteboards when it became clear we needed more space for collaboration, and lots of messes. Oh, I teach math. I have taught in a decades-old building where we could paint and drill on the walls; in a new space where command strips were the only option; in a garden that welcomes our neighbors in; from a cart full of science experiments; over Zoom seminars and through texting office hours; in the hallway with power tools; on streets across our city; and in flight to two other states. Thanks for supporting our next adventures.
