Some students require a bit more one-on-one therapy time with less distraction from other groups. Articulation therapy requires listening skills in order for the student to understand the focus and for the therapist to hear the student response. Language therapy requires the student to be able to focus on the concept being introduced. Room dividers provide temporary assistance for the child and therapist to focus on the task at hand and then immediately move that sound or concept to the general room for child-directed play with peers. When a child is not removed from the room in order to provide the intensive therapy, the transition to peers is more quickly and naturally achieved. Room dividers also provide a safe place for a child to decompress when agitated and then allows them to independently join their peers when they are comfortable and ready.
