I teach in a Title 1 school in a small town in Kansas. I will have 4th graders this year and then loop up to 5th grade with the same group of kids. In the Common Core Standards 4th grade is all about Fractions and 5th grade is all about decimals and percentages. I want my students, who see math as a scary subject to understand the value and the excitement that math IS. I am constantly telling my students that they are MATHEMATICIANS, I want them to realize and believe that themselves!
