Students, especially in elementary grades, often use the word “can’t”. Many students struggle in school, not due to their abilities, but to their fixed mindset. Help me teach and foster a growth mindset in my students. It is the first and most important step in learning. We will use these books in our weekly Mindset Monday lessons where we do read-alouds and activities to lead us into discussions about growing our brains and improving our mindset. The pencils and bookmarks will be rewards for demonstrating a growth mindset and great reminders for students to think positive throughout the day. “Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.” This quote by Zig Ziglar is one of my favorite educational quotes because it reinforces the idea of a growth mindset. My students have been out of school and are probably coming back feeling unsure Our mindset lessons will help them to regain the confidence they need to have a successful year.
