I teach the most amazing students in a Life Skills Program. My students are of high school age with various classifications and/or disabilities (ASD. Communication Disorders, Downs Syndrome, etc.) The students benefit greatly from a calm environment due to difficulty regulating their emotion as well as constant stimuli throughout the day. The students learn best through a multi sensory approach (hands on, visuals, etc.) the same is true when regulating emotions. The students benefit from calming smells, sounds, tactile objects, etc. The best part about my students every time I raise the bar for them they meet it. We love proving everybody is "ABLE" to learn.
