Do you ever get bored of just clapping to music? Well kids certainly do! It is hard to be creative when you are bored. By adding various instruments to the mix, it allows kids to learn more and be creative. My school has a small variety of general music instruments but they are falling apart. I glue them back together regularly. My instruments get used almost every day by 360 students aging from 3 to 14 years old.  Instruments make learning music very exciting, especially for younger kids. We engage in an activity called "Instrument Merry-Go-Round" in my class, where the kids listen to the music and play the rhythm for about 2 minutes and then move to the next seat with a different instrument. The goal is to be able to play all of the instruments and we just do not have the variety of instruments necessary to get all that we can out of it. In addition to rhythm, we need the hand bells to help us learn notes/pitches. We have a partial set and not enough for everyone. These are really good for ear training, fine motor skills, and working together as a group.
