Over the years, many 5th graders have favored our fiction units over our nonfiction units. This year, I want to beef up their nonfiction experience by giving them a leveled nonfiction library, as well as text sets, and comprehension cards. These materials will help to foster small group and idnependent reading endeavors. By giving students the tools they need to be successful with our nonfiction units, they will gain more confidence in their abilities and therefore find a love and passion for nonfiction reading. Overall, nonfiction skills are vital. This genre of reading is one in which students will spend the most time with throughout the rest of their academic and adult lives. Let's get them ready!
