These novels will help to add works by diverse authors so that students can relate to literature but also make connections to literature from other cultures. Students eyes light-up when they realize that they recognize phrases, settings, specific language and more. Enjoying the literature causes natural discussion amongst students of different groups and then they indirectly practice English and social skills. Also, this will create a library with graphic novels allowing us to reach students with diverse abilities. The students deserve to be able to take the books home in order to grow their fluency and literacy skills, thus closing the achievement gap and creating life-long learners.
