Students will have the opportunity to work on grade-level (and beyond!) skills with fascinating reading material in Storyworks, accompanied by videos and targeted writing and discussion assignments related to the text. Because the magazines will belong to the kids, they will feel real ownership and be able to highlight and mark the text, which will help them apply strategies they cannot use in school textbooks. I anticipate better comprehension skills, more reading for enjoyment, and increased library-book reading because of the excitement this will generate on many topics. I also anticipate higher scores on tests and better discussion and writing as a result.
