Project "Arm's Length Away" would give my students the opportunity to do their work at a table where the teacher or paraprofessional are close to the student's and can see what all the student's are working on at the same time. Right now the classroom has desks with chairs that are attached to the desks. The current furniture does not allow for flexible seating, collaboration or movement. The kidney table will be used for small group instruction and 1-on-1 instruction. The instructor will be able to teach a lesson while seeing what each individual student needs instantly. Students will be sitting next to each other , so they will be able to support each other and work collaboratively. The flexible seating (exercise ball and wobble stools) will allow the students to move while learning. Many of the students need movement to keep them focused during the day. This provides them that opportunity and increase their focus and ultimately their access to the information.
