Developing literacy skills is the foundation of a student's success. Having audiobooks with books to follow along will help my students to immerse themselves in reading. Listening to audiobooks improves reading skills and gives students some confidence. This will help them to cultivate a love of reading while learning vocabulary and fluency. Students will be able to listen, follow along and expand their vocabulary in an independent setting. Students will be able to check these books and audiobooks out of the library. They will also be able to check out a cd player if they do not have one at home. I am hoping that by having a broader selection of audiobooks, my struggling readers will find something that appeals to them and turns them into lifelong readers.
