In a school zone where many of the students walk to school and live below the poverty line, truancy rates are an epidemic. I try to make my students WANT to come to school. I try to make learning fun with technology and hands-on activities that are often lacking at the secondary level. Many of my scholars are struggling readers. These materials will help me teach my students to read and understand on their grade level. The head phones will help them hear the words they see on the page. Our textbook is equipped with an app that provides an audio version of the text. The other supplies will help them to annotate their texts and be available, especially to those who cant afford them. When students figure out that they can learn, they want to learn. It is my goal to show students the importance of reading to understand.
