Children on the Autism Spectrum are visual learners with deficits in Social Interactions. Having a library of age appropriate picture books to depict appropriate social skills will be a great asset to our classroom. There is no "common core" or guidelines for teaching social skills and therefore it will be essential to have resources to pull from when teaching these vital skills. I have created most of the lessons that I teach but picture books would be a great way to open up the dialogue for each lesson that must be thoughtfully and intentionally taught to these wonderful and curious students.
