My classroom is a special needs self contained setting. The students I work with along with my 3 classroom aides are often high poverty allowing for limited experiences outside our classroom. I want to put a sensory table in my class to bring experiences to them while working on those fine motor skills they so desperately need. Many of my students are significantly delayed making it difficult to take them on field trips and outings. A sensory table will help us bring experiences to them! I plan to use the sensory table to give the student opportunities to try new things, by exposing the students to a variety of textures to encourage a variety of sensory input! I plan to change the table to include, water, sand, beads, beans, shaving cream and other varieties of textures to keep it new, fresh and interesting to my little learners.
