As classrooms change and evolve with the times, the need for collaborative tech savvy approaches have arisen. As a "Title 1" low income, at risk school, my students fortunately do have access to Chromebooks for classroom use which we use everyday to help improve student literacy in new ways. To begin with, I am asking for help in providing my students with charging ports and power strips to make sure that these all important Chromebooks can stay charged at student stations at all times so that students can maximize their time in the classroom. These tools will allow my students to become fluent in G Suite and to work collaboratively on digital reading projects . Furthermore, in keeping with the materials needed in a 21st Century Classroom, I am providing 4 iPads donated from friends and family, but I need wall mounts and desk mounts to help secure them safely to help students who do not have access to the classroom Chromebooks. These iPads also need wireless keyboards so that students will be able to maximize their use of the iPads as well. Lastly, I am asking for help in providing my students with 6 beautiful 17 inch monitors so that my students can work in small collaborative groups and all see the amazing work that they are doing together in real time. By providing students with a common screen to work off of, students will be able to have more meaningful conversations about their work. Many of my students are visual learners for whom English is a second language, and the common language that everyone seems to understand best is technology. By utilizing technology, I hope to be able to reach all my students to the best of my ability in new and exciting ways.
