Reading is a foundational skill that students will build upon for the rest of their lives. In order to motivate students and get them excited about literacy, they need fun, educational, and relatable materials to read. Books like Junie B., Dogman, and the others I have selected will get my students interested and excited about picking out books to read from our classroom library, thus promoting fluency and comprehension. Every student deserves quality materials to take their imagination to the next level and help them learn to love to read. The students in my classroom have specific learning disabilities that make them hesitant and easily frustrated, but having good books to pick from can be the difference between them being excited to pick up a book or them shying away from literature, creating a long term
