I teach math and science to two classes of energetic, imaginative, curious second graders. My incredible group of students is beautifully diverse. Among students there is a wide array of backgrounds, abilities, talents, and life experiences. The theme of our classroom is 'Great Thinkers.' On our classroom walls I've displayed photographs and quotations of historical and contemporary great thinkers including Martin Luther King Jr, Frida Kahlo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Stephen Hawking (to name only a few) in hopes that my students may be inspired by these remarkable individuals. It's my heart's desire to provide the sort of classroom environment and learning experiences that allow my students to see that they are great thinkers just like the artists, inventors, poets, and scientists we study because each of them has a unique gift to share with the world. In our class, the learning is student-centered. Our room is vibrant, noisy, and full of activity!
