In the classroom I am designing a plan that would allow for more flexible seating. I have seen many benefits from research and other classrooms at my school. Moving away from the traditional classroom setup gives students more ownership and choice in their learning environment. Current studies show that implementing flexible seating has empowered students, increased student engagement and has helped prepare students for the real world. Think about your work day. Are you restrained to a stationary chair? Or do you work and learn better when you can move around? Therefore, with flexible seating, such as wobble stools, my goal is to create a more comfortable work space for students to learn and explore.
