I Am a 3rd grade teacher in a very rural area of Appalachia Ohio. According to Ohio Job and Family services most recent data, Pike County, Ohio has the fourth highest unemployment rate in the State of Ohio. A very high percentage of my students come from low income or non-working families. Our district is very spread out. Our students experience long bus commutes to and from school. Traveling many bumpy gravel roads before arriving at our safe place to learn.
