I want my classroom to always feel welcoming to my students, most of whom come from a disadvantaged background. My Title I school is 100% free lunch and a large percentage of our population is native. As a Citizen Potawatomi Nation member, I teach in Shawnee to help the next generation of natives. I work closely with our Indian Ed advisor to create projects and workshops to keep indigenous culture alive, a tough battle in an impoverished community like ours.
