My students come from low income neighborhoods located near the Mississippi. Our district provides free breakfast and lunch to every student. Our class has twenty- four first graders, eager to learn and play. Eleven students are ELL, or English Language Learners. One family is from a refugee camp, and hasn't been in the country for a full year yet. We love to do hands on activities, and do a lot of activities on the carpet near the Smart Board.
