Before I came to our school, the room I work in was called the Reading Lab and only remedial students were invited in. Furniture was desks and traditional chairs. Now, I have renamed it The Literacy Room and ask all teachers and administrators to include it in classroom tours and open it for Open Houses, and purchased some furniture on my own. But I still have work to do! My goal is for all students at our school- not only kids who receive reading help- to see this space as a reading room for ALL students and feel welcome at all times. Please help me make this happen with more flexible seating and more books!
