The purpose of my project is to promote diversity in our classroom library and read alouds. I would love to have picture books that showcase diverse characters and stories. Through this project, my class will have access to books that contain characters that look like them, explain and represent their beliefs and cultural practices, and honor their diversity. This project will also provide the classroom with a library of social and emotional centered books. These books will help our scholars apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to manage emotions, set positive goals, and establish and maintain respectful relationships.
