Being a Title I school, means many of my students do not have access to toys and games like Legos and Magnetix, Connect Four or Battleship. They often beg to have indoor recess so they can learn to play board games or spread out on the floor and experiment with Lego creations. They work together to build things and share in ways that are not possible in other tasks. We often see kind gestures of sharing, or suggestions for improvements in their creations. All students seem to speak the common language of playing with Legos and Magnetix. Each student can create whatever he or she can imagine and are limited only by our small supply of Legos and Magnetix. They are wonderful at cleaning up and making sure that all of the tiny pieces get put back for the next time.
