My school is a small school of 200+ students. We are often overlooked because we are tiny. One of the great things about us being so small is how it feels like one big family. We look out for one another and take care of each other. One of the struggles of being a tiny school is our budget is smaller than nearly every other school in our school district. My class is made up of a diverse group of second grade learners. They each have have their own strengths and different learning modalities. The students will be sharing their strengths and helping others by working collaboratively with their classmates. Each student will be doing this through the use of technology in class, choices in language arts activities, flexible seating options, and math games that will provide practice for the mathematical concepts they will be learning. I believe learning should be student centered, but most of all it needs to be enjoyable.
