In a low-income, urban school in California, students line up at my door everyday to toil over their most challenging subject: Math. My students are those who have struggled with math in the past; math has never been the highest grade on their report card, they don't have someone at home who can help them with their homework, and because of low achievement, now they have to spend hours with me doing exactly what they've been told for years they can't do -math. On top of the challenges of the topic, there are challenges of resources. Many of my students do not have pencils, binder paper, 3-ring binders, backpacks, lunch money, warm clothes... Even our school does not have funds to provide paper, pens, pencils, tissues, etc. for classrooms. All supplies come from teachers and families who have the ability to donate, but we need your help.
