I teach language arts and history in a juvenile justice facility. My students come from some extreme situations involving child abuse, drug abuse and crimes that go with these abuses. My students have missed a lot of school, so our graduation rates are not high, but they are getting better every year. Those that graduate are being placed in college classes and vocational programs. Although our successes are few, they are increasing. My students are looking for a second chance. We provide that chance along with mentoring and encouragement. My students are AWESOME!
