My students are highly motivated and want to achieve the same things as the next kid without a disability. Reading and keeping up is difficult when they have various reading disabilities, which makes reading a laborious process and a true barrier. They are between 10 and 12 years old, but their reading abilities range from 6 years to 10 years old. My students attend a multicultural neighborhood school. Yes, my students are "special" in more ways than one.
