In my fourth grade classroom, I have 27 active students who love to use technology in a variety of ways. All of my students come from well balanced families and they have access to multiple sources of technology at home. However, when they come to school, they do not have as much technology at their fingertips. Yes, we do have a projector and a SMART Board in our classroom, but trying to have 27 students work off of one SMART Board while the teacher is trying to teach a small group lesson is not ideal, it is just as noisy as the kickball game at recess. With more technology in my classroom, I can provide my students with endless learning opportunities. The iPad minis can help bridge the inconsistency between home and school, and they can also help engage all students in different subject areas. My students love hands-on learning experiences, and when they get their hands on technology, the learning experiences are endless.
